Church of Sant Miquel

RELIGIOUS ROUTE

The viscountcy of Cabrera was a territory, from a religious point of view, formed by a diversity of parishes with their own churches and sanctuaries offering religious services to society. There were also a number of monasteries from various religious orders.

The church is located on the site of the Romanesque chapel of Anglès castle, mentioned in documents from the early 13th century, and intimately related with the Cabrera viscountcy family, the lords of the castle. The Romanesque temple lasted until the late 16th and early 17th centuries, when the church was reformed and extended in a late-Renaissance style with a number of baroque elements. It has been subsequently reformed a number of times, until well into the 20th century.
