Sant Pere Sestronques was initially a **suffragan church** of the neighbouring church of Sant Amanç and later became dependent on Sant Martí Sapresa. The latest architectural studies of the hermitage indicate that it was built in the 10th century, although several theories suggest a 9th-century, pre-Romanesque origin due to the discovery of a window with a horseshoe arch on the north façade during restoration work in 1994.
