The Viscounty of Cabrera was one of the most important feudal lordships in Catalunya from the 11th to the 19th century. It extended across most of the present-day comarca of Selva and into parts of Maresme, Vallès Oriental and Osona. For many centuries, it operated as a true state, with its own administration, taxation system and even its own army.
The Viscounty has left a rich cultural and historical heritage spread throughout the territory, including castles, fortified houses, historic town centres, monasteries, places of worship, and countless stories of intrigue and betrayal linked to one of the most renowned noble lineages in Catalonia, as well as key historical figures such as the Marchioness of Cabrera and Bernat II de Cabrera.
The Viscounty of Cabrera project has been developed in two phases, explained below:
PHASE 1 – ERDF Operation “Viscounty of Cabrera Cultural and Tourism Product”, aimed at creating a cultural and tourism proposal based on the heritage and historical legacy of the Viscounty of Cabrera.
PHASE 2 – Viscounty of Cabrera Project, focused on consolidating and expanding the project across the former territories of the Viscounty of Cabrera.
