Roda de Ter is a municipality in the Osona region with a strong historical and cultural identity.

The present-day town extends along both banks of the Ter River, which has sustained it since ancient times. Its origins lie at the L’Esquerda archaeological site, but following the site’s destruction in 1314, the inhabitants relocated near the bridge and around a medieval church dedicated to Saint Mary.

Over the centuries, Roda has developed thanks to the river’s water power, which drove a thriving textile and metallurgical industry, particularly during the 19th and 20th centuries. Today, the town combines history, a natural setting, and a vibrant culture. Roda de Ter is also a town of writers; in addition to the novelist Emili Teixidor, it is widely known as the birthplace of the poet Miquel Martí i Pol—honored through literary trails, diverse cultural activities, and a foundation bearing his name. It is a town with a living past and an active future.
