In Riudarenes you can discover a rich historical heritage, from the parish church of Sant Martí de Riudarenes, situated in the town itself, to the castle of Argimon (sanctuary church of la Mare de Déu d’Argimon), the tower of Esparra and the little chapel of la Mare de Déu de Montcorb.

The municipality of Riudarenes lies in the so-called pre-coastal depression, or plain of la Selva. It consists of the town of Riudarenes, the localities of Can Maleta and Can Falqués, the residential development of Can Fornaca at one end of the municipal area, and the neighbourhoods of Serramagra, la Riera, el Raval de l’Esparra, l’Esparra and part of les Mallorquines.

The municipal area is crossed form north to south by the watercourse of Santa Coloma, dividing it into two parts: the eastern, flatter part and the west, which is bigger and rougher, with hills like el Far (583 metres) and the Puig d’Argimon (466 metres). The flatter part of the area lies in a former lake filled with granite soils and residue of volcanic origin, forming part of the Montseny-Guilleries block.
