Lloret de Mar is a municipality in the region of La Selva, located south of Costa Brava, which is bordered to the north by the municipality of Tossa de Mar, to the south by Blanes and to the west by Vidreres.

The name Lloret de Mar comes from the Roman word Lauretum, due to the large number of laurels that could be found in the town in previous times.

Although Lloret de Mar is currently internationally known for its beach tourism, it is a municipality that maintains its cultural identity as a meeting point for cultures and traditions. The population of Lloret de Mar has an important heritage in the cultural and natural sector, such as Iberian settlements, medieval castles, gardens, etc.
