This project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union within the framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Catalonia 2014-2020.
The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) aims to strengthen socio-economic cohesion within the European Union by correcting imbalances between its regions.
The ERDF pays special attention to the specific characteristics of each region. ERDF action has been designed to reduce socio-economic and environmental problems in urban areas and focuses specifically on sustainable urban development. At least 5% of ERDF resources are reserved for this task, through “integrated actions” managed by cities.
Areas that are geographically disadvantaged due to natural causes (remote, mountainous or sparsely populated areas) benefit from special treatment. Finally, outermost regions also benefit from specific ERDF assistance to address potential disadvantages due to their remoteness.
